Please tell us about the Sugar project and how it became an animation series.

It started from the producers at TBS. They wanted a story about a tiny fairy. I was thinking of it as a great fantasy about a town where Season Fairies live and they go all over the world to work. After I had discussed this with Mr. Yamada (series structure), Mr. Ito (Kadokawa Shoten) and others, "Sugar" became what you see now.

What is the difference between the animation and the original concept that was in your head?

I just wanted to make it with an incredibly warm atmosphere and full of dreams! If I remember correctly, Sugar was originally a more quiet and calm girl... In the animation series, there are more visual details for the characters and stories by Mr. Yamada and the director. More details were added to each character during meetings, such as Saga being the well-organized character, and Sugar being very passionate about food.
